Eat Smart Play Hard for Parents

The Eat Smart. Play Hard.™ Healthy Lifestyle! site is specifically designed for parents and caregivers. It provides information to help you eat better, be more physically active and be a role model for your kids. This site contains information and resources to:

• Help you get started,
• Help you make smart choices,
• Prepare quick, easy, and healthy meals that taste good and
• Provide you with tips on how to increase physical activity in your life.

In addition, you'll also find a handy Calorie Burner Chart, the My Pyramid Tracker and the ESPH Tracking Card. With all this information, you'll have the tools you need to begin eating healthier and be more active every day.

Kids a Cookin' is designed to "share the fun and skills of cooking with children and those who guide them." It provides a large variety of healthy, simple, kid-tested recipes plus cooking tips and techniques. This is a program of K-State Research and Extension's Family Nutrition Program.

Kids Health

KidsHealth from the Nemours Foundation is an award-winning site packed with reliable information for kids, teens and parents. One of the things that makes KidsHealth special is that it's really three sites in one with sections for parents, for kids, and for teens.

KidsHealth is the most-visited site on the Web for information about health, behavior, and development from before birth through the teen years. On a typical weekday, KidsHealth gets more than 700,000 visits.

KidsHealth is more than just the facts about health. As part of The Nemours Foundation's Center for Children's Health Media, KidsHealth also provides families with perspective, advice, and comfort about a wide range of physical, emotional, and behavioral issues that affect children and teens.

Let's Move - Actions for Parents provides information for parents and caregivers about how to set a great example for the whole family by creating a healthy environment at home. Making fruits and vegetables part of every meal, limiting treats, walking and playing, even shopping together - any combination of steps can add up to make a real difference and help build healthy habits for life.

Link to My Pyramid for Kids

MyPyramid for Kids offers resources that can be used by parents and educators including MyPyramid Blast Off, an interactive computer game that reinforces the key concepts of allowing students to select a variety of foods (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) and physical activity. Food group fuel tanks will help kids keep track of how their choices fit into MyPyramid. By not going overboard on total fuel, added sugars, and solid fats, kids may reach Planet Power! See what happens when kids blast off.
